The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has cautioned the public against organising cultural performances at the country’s airports without any official approval.
In a notice issued via its Facebook page, GACL said traditional displays such as drumming, dancing, singing, chanting to welcome prominent personalities and individuals at the airport will not be allowed unless prior approval has been granted by management.
GACL explained that individuals, families, or groups who intend to welcome guests with cultural display must first seek permission from the Commercial Services Department of the company.
However, GACL did not outline specific sanctions for persons who flout the directive.
While GACL did not state reasons for this directive, it is anticipated that the new rule will address the often disruptions at airport due to the informal cultural welcomes that have been taking place at arrival areas.
