The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has stated that it has accepted a bail condition proposed by the lawyers of the ex Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Mr Paul Adom-Otchere.
This is contained in a post on the OSP’s Facebook on August 1.
“The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has accepted revised bail conditions proposed by legal counsel for Mr. Paul Adom-Otchere, former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL),” the OSP stated.
According to the post “The revised terms, which meet the objectives of the original bail conditions, have been secured by the Jospong Group of Companies, acting as surety.
“The matter remains under active investigation by the OSP” the post concluded.
Earlier, the Director of Strategy, Research and Communication at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Sammy Darko Appiah disclosed that the OSP has evidence which suggests that some direct actions of Paul Adom-Otchere as GACL Board Chairman falls in line with offenses the OSP is mandated to investigate.
“As far as the OSP is concerned, we have come across evidence that directly points to certain actions of Mr. Adom-Otchere as a board chairman that falls in line with the offenses that we are allowed to investigate and that is what we are investigating,” he stated.
He added: “We have come by credible evidence that links him (Adom-Otchere) to commission of a crime and we are just investigating that.”
Mr Adom-Otchere is under investigation in connection with a revenue assurance contract between the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) and a private firm owned by the proprietor of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML).
He reported to the OSP on Thursday, July 31 at 3pm and was detained after being unable to meet the bail terms set by the OSP.
