National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, “Samuel Ofosu Ampofo is harbouring criminals in the party”, a former Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, Enoch Amoako-Nsiah, has opined.

He says Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo must be expunged from the party as a leader for overseeing the anomalies that characterised the 2020 elections and the recent regional executive polls.

Mr. Amoako-Nsiah speaking on Maakye on Onua TV/FM Wednesday, December 14, 2022, said Mr. Ofosu Ampofo discarded a petition that sought to oust persons who betrayed the party at the last elections.

He says “if Ofosu Ampofo continues to be our Chairman, we will not win the 2024 polls” considering the fact that he supervised for 40 per cent of the party’s polling agents to be recruited from the NPP.

The NDC Chair, according to Amoako-Nsiah, failed to sanction the regional Chair and Secretary for looking on for the mess at the elections.

When asked why he is absolving the regional leadership from blame, he said the party’s failure and success is a “collective responsibility but someone must take the blame” and hence, the National Chairman who is the leader.

“The Ashanti Regional Chairman failed to perform his responsibility and the Chairman who was supposed to sanction him didn’t. Every member at NEC should take the blame for failure of the executives but the final bus stops with the Chairman,” he explained.

He further indicated, as per a post-election committee report that, the loosened system from the Chairman’s end allowed Kwame Zu, the regional secretary to scheme the system in his favour in their last election.

The then Chairman who was retained after the elections, Nana Akwasi Andrews responding to the issues said he was exonerated from all allegations that were levelled against him.

“Samuel Sarpong who is Chairman of the Committee says none of the 17 witnesses could provide evidence for the allegations levelled against me,” he clarified.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti regional Secretary who is contesting for national position, Kwame Zu said Mr. Nsiah and his cohorts were only being tribalistic.

“He is being tribalistic because they said they don’t understand why I as an Ewe would be a general secretary to the party in the region.

“The exact words the former deputy Chief of Staff used was ‘when would you go to Volta to see the face of the party being called Osei Tutu?’ If this is not tribal hatred, what is it? They have formed a cabal and the name of their group is Ashantis for Ashanti,” he told Captain Smart, host of the show.
