One suspect has been arrested by the Obuasi Divisional Command of the Ghana Police Service after foiling a robbery attempt on the Tutuka-Akrofuom road in the Ashanti region.

This was after the officers had responded to a distress call that alerted them of the development.

According to a statement issued by the Police on Saturday, August 2, 2025, the robbers fled into the bush upon the arrival of the police, leaving behind two unregistered motorbikes and a machete.

The statement indicates that the officers launched a bush pursuit leading to the arrest of one of the suspects, Pascal Yenkye, who was shot in the leg while attempting to flee on a motorbike.

Yenkye is currently receiving treatment under police supervision, with efforts geared towards arresting the other members of the gang and bring them to book.

“A manhunt is underway to arrest the other suspects on the run to face the law,” the Police assured.
