The Accra Tourist Information Centre caught fire in the early hours of Monday, August 4, 2025, around 1:00am.
Reports coming in suggest the fire commenced from the kitchen area of a popular food vendor operation within the premises, Rockz Waakye.
Meanwhile, the exact cause of the fire is unknown as fire personnel are yet to investigate what triggered the inferno.
But the for the swift arrival and intervention of personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) who curtailed the situation with five fire tenders, the fire could have exacerbated into something worse.
So far, no injuries or casualties have been reported as more details are expected to emerge with investigations currently ongoing.
In a related development, a separate fire incident occurred on Sunday, August 3, near the Madina Redco Flats. The fierce blaze engulfed multiple makeshift wooden and metal structures in the area. The GNFS received the emergency call at 12:36 p.m., and the first fire appliance from the Madina Fire Station arrived at 12:40 p.m.
Additional support was dispatched from the Legon, Abelempke, and GNFS Headquarters, bringing the total number of fire engines at the scene to five. The cause of this fire is also under investigation.
Authorities urge the public to remain cautious and report any fire hazards to emergency services immediately.
