The one-week traditional observance ceremony ahead of the funeral of the late Francis Yaw Frimpong, a staunch supporter of Asante Kotoko, has been scheduled for Sunday, February 16.

The ceremony will be held at the Heroes Park from 6:00am to 6:00pm.

This was announced on Monday after management of Asante Kotoko called on the Omanhene of Kukuom Traditional Area, Osahen Nana Kwaku Aterkyi II, and the family.

The call on Nana Aterkyi II was also to officially inform the traditional leader of Kukuom, where the deceased hails from, of the Asante Kotoko fan’s passing.

It comes a day after a vigil was held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in his honour.

Popularly known as Nana Pooley, Francis Yaw Frimpong lost his life on Sunday, February 2 after Asante Kotoko’s 1-0 loss to Nsoatreman FC.

The Matchday 19 game at the Prof. Amoah Koramansah II Park was marred by a brawl involving players of both sides, leaving Asante Kotoko with nine men and Nsoatreman FC with 10 men to end the game.

Nana Pooley was stabbed after the game just outside the stadium.

His death has sparked nationwide discussions on safety at stadiums as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) consults stakeholders on the way forward.
