The 2026 Onua Community League began in earnest at the McDan La Town Park on Sunday following the launch of the competition.
The launch of this year’s edition, sponsored by Atena NLA, saw past and present Black Stars players including Benjgracing the ceremony.
The first match saw Aworshia Movement-Klala fall by 3-0 to Dome Community much to the disappointment of home fans as Teshie residents had walked the short distance to the match venue to support their club, owned by musician Klala.
It was a cagey encounter in the second game as Lashibi Community 17 held on to draw goalless against Racecourse Old Stars, who missed a penalty during play.
They missed two more in the three-kick penalties to lose 2-1 to Lashibi Community 17, who set a date with Dome Community.
The third game saw last-minute qualifiers Team Abeka fall by a lone goal to Ashongman Estates.
With Aworshia Movement-Anglican FC showing skills and strength in the final game, dispatching Kutunse by 2-0, the play-offs were set.
The first game saw Lashibi Comm. 17 beating Dome Community 3-2 on penalties after another goalless draw while Anglican FC got a last-minute winner against Ashongman Estates after goalkeeper Emmanuel Owusu failed to punch the ball further away from his opponent.
Lashibi Comm. 17 and Aworshia Movement-Anglican FC will await the completion of the zonal competitions for the quarter-finals.
