Labone Heroes were crowned champions of the Onua-Atena Community League following a 3-1 penalty win over Nima in the final on Sunday.
The match had ended 0-0 in full regulation time but the lads from Labone, in the neighbourhood of La where the final was played, held their own to beat their counterparts.
It was the second meeting of the two sides, having slugged it out in the quarter-finals.
Nima won that battle by a lone goal, leaving Labone Heroes to battle in a play-off against La Coastal United.
They won and made it to the semi-finals, also played on Sunday, August 30.
Nima’s Yakubu Olembe had already won hearts going into the finals and with two goals in his name but he failed to find the back of the net.
It was a cagey 90 minutes as the match went straight to penalties.
Despite converting their first kick, Nima failed in their next two with Abdallah, who had won the Man of the Match in their semi-final game, and Olembe, who became the eventual Golden Boot winner, missing their kicks.
Their goalkeeper Mohammed Drogba won the Best Goalkeeper award.
Labone Heroes captain Richmond Addy won the Golden Ball award.
Organisers of the tournament expressed satisfaction with the performance with guests including past and present Black Stars players urging Onua Group to sustain the tournament.
