The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested six persons in connection with the alleged murder of a tricycle rider, Akolbila Blessing, at Dulugu-Zuarungu in the Upper East Region.
The arrest follows preliminary investigations into an incident in which the deceased was allegedly attacked and beaten after reportedly failing to make sales expected by the owner of the tricycle he was operating.
According to the Police, the incident occurred on Thursday, August 27, 2026, when Blessing allegedly failed to account for sales made from the tricycle to its owner, identified as Mpika.
The Police said the disagreement subsequently escalated, resulting in the alleged assault of the rider by six persons.
Blessing was found unconscious in his room the following day and was rushed to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital for medical attention.
However, he was pronounced dead on arrival at the facility.
The six suspects arrested in connection with the incident have been identified as Avandiba Atubiga Kante, 26; Atua Atombire Mpika, 40; Amale Nyaaba Nicholas, 30; Atua Ayinbotima, 22; Atuah Nsobila Prosper, 21; and Ayine Albert Sunday, 39.
The suspects are currently assisting the Police with investigations as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death.
The Police Command has cautioned the public against resorting to violence to settle disputes, stressing that disagreements should be resolved through lawful means.
It has also assured residents of its commitment to enforcing the law and bringing persons found culpable to justice.
