Onua TV’s Akua Sarpomaa has been assaulted by persons she believes to be NPP communicators.

The incident happened at a voter registration centre in the Weija-Gbawe municipality, on May 8, 2024, when two of them were fighting over food and Police went to the scene to settle the issue.  When the Police officers called one of the fighters, he ran away so they chased him.

The young man was subsequently arrested and brought to the centre. It was at this point that Akua started filming the scene. Suddenly, two young men identified as Joshua Drybone and Sakawa, who according to our sources are members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team, pounced on her.

“They rushed on me that I should delete the videos. So, I told them that with all due respect if they didn’t want to be filmed, they should leave the scene and they started heckling and trying to take my phone from me.

The security personnel and some members of the NDC and NPP came to rescue me from the attackers and took me to the Immigration Service office nearby,” Akua narrated.

She added that “Sakawa started insulting Onua TV staff immediately he realized that I work with Onua TV, ‘stupid people who don’t know your job, always fooling on radio and TV. I’m waiting for the day I will get you guys and I will teach you a lesson’. The insult continued until I left there.”

Meanwhile, the case has been reported to the Weija District Police Command for further investigation.
