Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo says he is not the kind of professional to succumb to calls to reject.

If he did in the past, he explained, “I’d never have become a player or even a coach”.

Otto Addo stressed this during his post-match press conference on Monday, November 18.

The Black Stars lost 1-2 to Niger in their final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The loss sees the four-time champions fail to win a single game in Group F in the series.

That goal by youngster Jerry Afriyie against Niger is the only one to have been scored on home soil during the six-match qualifiers.

The inability by the team to qualify has triggered calls on the gaffer to resign.

Journalists questioned the conscience of the Germany-trained coach to stay on as handler of the senior national men’s soccer team.

But he rejected the calls.

”I’m not the person who can resign. If I had done this, I’d never have become a player or even a coach,” the former Dormund talent coach stated.

“If you know where I have come from as a person to arrive at this job you won’t even ask about resignation.

“People shouting and telling me to resign can’t affect me.”
