Overlord of the Asante Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will today, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, submit the report on the Bawku peace mediation to the President, John Dramani Mahama.

This is part of the nation’s efforts to ensure peace returns to Bawku after years of prolonged conflict in the area.

President Mahama appointed the Asantehene to lead the charge in restoring peace to Bawku early 2025.

In April 2025, Otumfuo commenced the mediation process by holding separate consultations with leadership and representatives of the feuding factions to lay the groundwork for the dialogue and confidence building.

Although the talks experienced a brief pause, they resumed in May 2025 and have since helped to ease tensions, contributing to a period of relative calm in the previously volatile area.

The report to be presented to the President is expected to highlight progress made so far, outline key challenges, and offer recommendations to guide the next phase of government intervention towards achieving sustainable peace in Bawku.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Armed Forces say security presence in the area has been reinforced to maintain law and order as mediation efforts continue.
