The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called on the warring factions in the Bawku conflict to embrace unity and coexist peacefully, following the successful conclusion of the mediation process at the Manhyia Palace.

With his report and recommendations set to be submitted to President John Dramani Mahama soon, the Asantehene has reiterated his appeal for the factions to recognise their shared identity and live together in harmony.

In a press statement issued by the Asantehene’s Chief Staff, Kofi Badu, on Monday, December 1, 2025, he said “the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere with both sides emphasising the fact that they are one people who have no reason to be at war with each other.”

In the statement, Kofi Badu said the Asantehene expressed gratitude to the two sides and reminded them on the need to see themselves as one people, while urging them to accept the outcome of the process.

“His Majesty thanked both sides for their civility and maturity and urged them to remember that whatever the outcome of the mediation, they would have to live together as brothers and sisters.”

As the Asantehene is set to submit his report and recommendations to President Mahama, he has urged the feuding factions to prepare their people to accept the outcome of the process, according to his Chief of Staff.

“He urged the leaders to start preparing the minds of their supporters to be prepared to put an end permanently to violence and disorder in their communities.

“His Majesty announced that he would submit his report with his proposals to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama in the next few days,” he disclosed, adding that the President will be expected to act on the report as soon as possible.

“He hoped that the President would act expeditiously and çonvene a formal meeting of all interested parties to announce the outcome of the mediation mission.”
