Hundreds of protestors stormed the 37 Trotro Station on Thursday, September 21, 2023, to participate in the OccupyJubileeHouse protest despite warnings from the police. 

The demonstrators stated variety of reasons for their protest including improved governance, reduction in the cost of living, an end to corruption among other reasons.

After defying a court injunction and proceeding with a demonstration to march to the Jubilee House, the seat of Government of Ghana, some to them got arrseree.

Some protestors were arrested with the organisers of the demonstration.

About 50 members of the group are currently in custody at the regional police headquarters in Accra Central.

The organisers said they didn’t receive any court notice, the reason they went ahead to meet at 37 to embark on the protest to the Jubilee House.

Key among the protestors arrested at the Jubilee House was #FixtheCountry convenor Oliver Barker Vormawor.

There have been series of demonstrations against the government in recent months, with the OccupyJubilee House protest being the latest among them.

They have expressed discontent over the rising cost of living and the government’s inability to fix them.

Meanwhile, government says it has performed adequately well and putting up measures to curb the current situation.

However, the protestors say that the government is not doing enough and that Ghanaians deserve better.
