Frustration continues to mount at the Greater Accra Solution Centre at GNAT Hall as parents and guardians struggle to get schools for their wards under the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
This was observed when Onua TV’s correspondent, Regina Akua Sarpomaa, visited the centre on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
Reporting live on the morning show, Maakye, Sarpomaa said although authorities say the pressure at the centre has calmed, the numbers at the centre tells how serious the issue is, since the entire place was still filled to capacity.
One parent who spoke from the centre said she had to return after she was earlier told her child’s placement would reflect but waited without any results.
“They said we should go and it will come but it didn’t that’s why I have returned. I came from Weija Oblogo. I got here at 5:20 a.m,” she said.
Another parent who has been visiting the centre since last week Friday described the process as tedious and chaotic.
“It’s been very tedious from Friday till now. Friday it was like a stampede here and I couldn’t stand it so I went home,” she said.
She questioned why the placement challenges cannot be resolved digitally to ease the burden on parents and officials at the centres.
“One thing I don’t understand is that, they said the computer picked the schools for us so why is that when we are having a problem we can’t go to the computer to change the schools to make it a bit easier for the parents and workers here, but we need to struggle for people to be here and it was an eyesore on Friday,” she lamented, raising concerns about how people with medical issues could even be affected.
Meanwhile, the Secretariat has debunked claims that students who haven’t been placed will not get school once school reopens on Friday, September 18.
