President of the Republic, Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has touched grounds at the Sunyani airport for its commissioning.

Together with him are the Communications and Digitalisation Minister, Ursla Owusu-Ekuful; Transport Minister, Kwasi Asiamah; Chief Executive of the Ghana Airport Company, Paul Adom Otchere and some party executives.

The commissioning will ease air access to the Bono Regional capital as flights would be able to ply the route.

The 1,280 metre runway has been extended to 1,400 metres after the rehabilitation.

The airport will now accommodate medium-sized planes after the extention.

The extended capacity will give room for some local flights to use the airport.

According to the government, the airport, located in the middle belt of Ghana, has also seen the construction of an apron, construction of internal roads and renovation of terminal building.
