Member of Parliament for Nanton and deputy minister of Food and Agriculture, Alhaji Mohammed Hardi Tufeirua was involved in a serious accident on his way to Parliament Friday, March 31, 2023.

The MP who was on his way to vote on the three Revenue Bills was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance after he had been taken to Parliament to cast his vote for Excise Duty Amendment Bill to be passed.

After the exercise, he was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The two other Bills, the Income Tax and Growth and Sustainability Bills were passed despite the Minority’s numerical advantage due to the absence of the deputy minister.

The Minority had 136 members with the Assin Central MP being being injuncted by court.

The Majority, with 138 members were reduced to 136 due to the accident MP and Mr. Basoah who died in the course of the week.

What boggles the minds of many is how the Majority were able to get the votes to get the Bills passed.

Also, how mangled the Nanton MP’s vehicle became but still sacrificed his health to get the Bills passed is also an issue yet to be understood by many.
