The Kwadaso Wood Market in Kumasi has caught another fire destroying numerous properties after the market was swept through by fire.
This makes it the second time the market has caught fire within two weeks, after portions of it was ravaged by flames on January 04, 2025.
The fire reportedly broke out in the early hours of Sunday, but its cause is yet to be determined.
The main sawmill was destroyed together with essential equipment, together with logs of wood costing thousands of cedis.
The residents attempted putting off the fire but could not douse it due to the intensity of it.
No casualties were however recorded. The traders are currently assessing the extent of the damage and losses incurred during the process.
They are appealing to local authorities to take measures to prevent such incidents by installing fire hydrants and other essential equipment to enhance safety at the market.
