Africa has great football talents but the development of the game on the continent is rather taking a nosedive.

The talents displayed by many Africans across the various leagues in Europe is evident to the great footballers endowed in the region.

Meanwhile, the lack of motivation and poorer remuneration generally is hindering the game’s progress.

Many clubs across the continent pay wages far below what’s being offered in Europe and other parts of the world.

Second division clubs elsewhere are better remunerated than premier league clubs in Africa.

What has happened in the Zambia Super League recently has sparked conversations on social media after a player adjudged as top player of the month was given 5 crates of eggs as his reward.

An image posted by Osagy Football Transfer News on Facebook with the caption “Musonda was the Zambia league top player of the month and was awarded 5 crates of eggs” sends a bad signal not only about Zambia but the continent as a whole.

Despite the award not being a wage, it signals what might probably be given players in the league as wages.
