Chief Executive Officer of the John Agyekum Kufuor Foundation, Prof. Baffour Agyeman Duah has asked President Akufo-Addo to reconstitute the National Cathedral Board.

He says the Board of Trustees must be reconstituted becaused the National Cathedral project “was parochially conceived for president’s parochial interest.”

The series of controversies surrounding the National Cathedral began over a year ago when the project started and seems not to be abating anytime soon.

Even though President Akufo-Addo had said the Cathedral was a personal promise he was making for God, he ended up committing almost ₵400million into it before the project was halted.

An account was opened for personal donations into the project which together with the government funding still situaute the edifice at foundation level.

Pastor Mensah Otabil who was a member of the Board resigned some months after the Trustees constitution which generated a lot of debate about the integrity of affairs regarding the project.

The recent incident following the latest exposé which according to Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the North Tongu MP is the mother of all cathedral scandals is the resignation of another member, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills.

It appears the Bishop resigned somewhere in 2022 but was kept under the carpet until current revelations started unfolding.

But speaking on 3FM’s Hot Edition Tuesday, January 17, 2023, the Prof. Duah Agyemang said the project cannot hold based on the foundation upon which it was birthed.

The Board he opines, must be changed.

“President should reconstitute the board because project was parochially conceived for president’s parochial interest,” he said.
