The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly impersonating a military officer to extort money from residents at Ashaiman.
The suspect, identified as Bright Atsu Kudiabor, an ex-convict, was arrested on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at about 7:00 a.m. at a suburb known as “I Shall Return”.
According to the Police statement dated September 16, “Kudiabor was parading himself as a soldier and extorting money from unsuspecting victims in the area.”
He was initially apprehended by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service in Ashaiman with the help of some residents, and subsequently handed over to the Police.
A search conducted on him led to the retrieval of a set of military camouflage uniform.
The Police say “the suspect is currently in custody assisting with investigations and will be put before court after investigations are concluded.
Meanwhile, the Tema Regional Police Command has advised the public to be vigilant and report persons who falsely pose as soldiers or officers of other security agencies to extort money from the public.
