The Ghana Police Service has arrested the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwame Baffoe Agyei, popularly known as Abronye, on charges of offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace.

In a statement issued by the Police Monday, September 8, 2025, it confirmed that the outspoken NPP Chairman was taken into custody earlier in the day and is currently being held.

“He is currently in custody and will be put before Court,” the statement said.

Although the Police did not provide details of the specific behaviour that triggered the arrest, the move comes at a time when Mr. Agyei has attracted widespread public attention for his controversial comments in the media and on televised broadcasts.

He is expected to be arraigned in the coming days.
