The Ghana Police Service has said Harold Norman, husband of Rosemond Akua Adobea, popularly known as Nana Akua Addo, will be arraigned for alleged domestic abuse after his discharge from hospital.
According to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Nana Akua Addo petitioned the Director-General of the CID on August 20, 2026, alleging that her husband had subjected her to physical, emotional and economic abuse.
The Police said preliminary investigations revealed that a case involving the couple had previously been handled by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026.
Following the petition, Mr Norman was arrested at his residence on August 27 to assist with investigations.
He subsequently provided a caution statement and was granted police enquiry bail on August 29 with two sureties while investigations continued.
The Police said he was scheduled to appear before court on Wednesday, October 7, but his lawyer informed investigators that he had been admitted to hospital and was therefore unable to appear.
In a statement issued on October 7, police said officers visited the said hospital to verify his claim.
“Investigators from DOVVSU have visited the said hospital to verify the claim and are monitoring the situation to ensure he is arraigned immediately upon discharge from the hospital,” the CID said in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Francis Kwesi Yeboah.
The CID added that it is working with the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection to ensure that social welfare services are provided to the victim and her children.
The Police Service reiterated its commitment to protecting victims of domestic violence and ensuring that complaints brought before it are investigated professionally and fairly.
