The Police have restored calm on the campus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology following violent clashes between students of the University Hall (Katanga) and Unity Hall (Conti) of the University.

In a statement found on the Facebook page of the Ghana Police Service, it says “the Police are in firm control of the situation and investigation is ongoing to arrest those behind this unfortunate, needless and unjustifiable attacks and bring them to face justice.”

It further states the police are therefore urging “all law abiding members of the university community to remain calm and support the police as we deal with the situation.”

Clashes between the two Halls resulted in vandalism Thursday night.

Report reveals, residents of Katanga were having a procession as part of their hall week, but ended up at the precinct of Unity Hall.

Students of both halls pelted each other resulting in vandalism.

Security was beefed up to prevent further escalation.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council issued a statement informing students of the university to halt any demonstration.
