The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that all individuals involved in Wednesday’s violent mob attack at Kwame Danso court will be tracked down, arrested, and prosecuted.

The irate youth attack on Wednesday, December 10 occurred at 10:30 am while the Kwame Danso District Court was in session. The youth, numbering 100 besieged the court premises, attacked persons at the court and vandalized furniture, fans and other items.

The youth also forcibly took away two accused persons who were standing trial and assaulted the complainant in the case.

The youth later attacked two officers who were on duty at the Kwame Danso Police Headquarters and vandalized the police station.

A reinforcement team from the Atebubu Division, together with a detachment of the Formed Police Units (FPUs) were deployed to the area to restore order.

The Bono East Regional Police Command has restored calm in the Sene West District but the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has ordered a shut down of the Kwame Danso Police Station and District Police Headquarters until further notice.

Officers have been reassigned to other parts of the region.

ASP/Mr Appiah Danquah, Acting Public Relations Officer for the Bono East Region assured the public that it will pursue all persons connected to the attack and make them face the full consequences of the law.
