The Ghana Police Service has banned movement of its personnel to Bawku and its environs.

A police wireless message sighted by 3news noted that police personnel and their families have become targets by unknown persons in Bawku and its surrounding areas.

It indicated that personnel deployed on OPS duties in these areas should ensure they put on appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and are under armoured escort.

The message says the Inspector General of Police has since directed an immediate ban on personnel travelling to Bawku.

“Movements of personnel, both indigene and non-indigenes including their families in Pusiga and Binduri is banned,” the wireless message noted.

“By this directive, Garu can also be dangerous so all should take note and comply.”
