Professor Stephen Adei, a former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), has rated the Akufo-Addo government 5 out of 10 in corruption fight.

He has criticised the government for not putting in much effort to curb the menace, indicating that that has made his efforts ineffective.

Comparing the President’s efforts to his predecessors, he said Akufo-Addo’s anti-corruption endeavours have not been enough to curtail the canker, a warranting a half mark rating from him.

According to the former Board Chair of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), fighting corruption goes beyond the mere establishment of institutions without determination to combat it.

He has admonished the government to adopt more comprehensive measures to tackle the situation.

‘Akufo-Addo will go down in history as one of the most disappointing leaders if…’ – Prof. Adei

“I will rate him (President Akufo-Addo) about what other presidents had done and in that case, I will rate him five because I think he went upfront with these institutions and other things but did not follow through.”

“For example, I think no matter whatever institutions you establish, if the President who is the head of State says that when you smell corruption, you are going to be out of my sight, if you don’t do that, you can never tackle corruption,” he said on Accra-based JoyNews Thursday, February 29, 2024.

It appears ‘people are in a hurry to loot the country before the end of Akufo-Addo’s term’ – Prof. Adei
