The chiefs of Ekumfi in the Central region have described as appalling, disgraceful and disgusting, the brouhaha surrounding the autopsy report of the late former President, John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills.

The chiefs want the immediate family rather settle amicably, the controversy over the autopsy report, instead of the media banter which is presenting them as a disintegrated unit.

In a statement issued Monday, January 29, 2024, the Ekumfi chiefs want the matter settled once and for all to bring the name of the township and their late indigene to rest.

“…in view of this, we the Nananom of Ekumfi believe that if the extended or any member of the family has issues with the report, they could jaw-jaw with the immediate family to have their disagreement settled once and for all, instead of the recurring media banter.

“Nananom wish to state that the raging back and forth wrangling is not just appalling but also disgraceful and disgusting; projecting the family as a disintegrated one,” the statement indicated in some parts.

The comments follow the recent banter between the maternal and paternal families of the late President where a faction is demanding the report with the other saying they have it.

The maternal family of the late Prof. Mills, has, in a recent visit to the Jubilee House, asked President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to help them secure the autopsy report of their kinsman.

On January 12, 2024, the Kyedomhemaa of Ekumfi Asaman, Nana Enyinfua III, who is the head of the maternal family of the late Mills appealed to the President when she visited with other family members to thank Akufo-Addo for renovating the Asomdwe Park –burial grounds of Prof. Mills –for them.

But, brother of the late President, Samuel Atta Mills, after the maternal family’s demand, has in a series of media interviews, indicated that the “legitimate” family members of the late first gentleman of the land has his autopsy report which is not a document for public records.
