If the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, should “repent from his sinful ways and chooses the way of the Lord, he will find His favour before the party delegates” at the November 4 presidential primary of the NPP, Chairman Wontumi, has asserted.

The Ashanti regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the insults that have characterised Ken Agyapong’s campaign is going to cost him the flag bearer position he is contesting if he doesn’t stop.

He has advised Ken Agyapong to stop attacking people who are not supporting his bid and render an apology to the delegates to get him some votes a month to come.

His comments stem from a response he was giving to the lawmaker for daring him not to make a mistake in making foul comments about him during a speech at a showdown talk in Kumasi over the weekend.

“Today is 4th and exactly a month today (November 4), we will be going to the polls and I’ll like to end my message with Ezekiel chapter 18 vs 22 which says if the sinner should repent from his sinful ways and chooses the way of the Lord, he will be saved. It is left with one month and I don’t seek your loss but those comments suggesting those who wouldn’t vote for you are fools among others, if you will apologise to the party delegates and change from your ways, you will have the Lord’s favour before them (party delegates)” he said at a press conference Wednesday, October 4, 2023.

Meanwhile, Chairman Wontumi had at the same press conference threatened to get Kennedy Agyapong arrested if he dares threaten him again.

He said comments coming from the Assin Central lawmaker who is seeking to become flag bearer of the NPP for the 2024 elections is becoming unbecoming, and it was time he put a stop to it. Threats from Ken Agyapong during his speech at the showdown walk in Kumasi over the weekend necessitated the reaction from Mr. Bosiako.

According to Ken Agyapong, Chairman Wontumi was making comments against his candidature and peddling falsehood against him which he pledged not to take lightly.

The Chairman of Parliament’s Committee on Defence and Interior had also alleged that, the Vice President, whom Wontumi is supporting is collapsing the NPP with the threats they are issuing to party delegates to get him votes in the upcoming presidential primary.

“I dare Wontumi to make a mistake and he will see men in this country. He has opened radio and television stations which he uses to insult elders. If Wontumi claims he used to support Alan and I convinced him to move to support President Akufo-Addo, I am telling Wontumi to meet me here…If you support President Akufo-Addo no problem, if you support Alan no problem, but do not insult. You are not the only persons with the license to insult. I am telling you plainly that Bawumia is collapsing the NPP for the threats they are leashing out on polling station executives and electoral area coordinators,” Ken Agyapong had indicated at the showdown walk.

But responding to the outspoken legislator, Chairman Wontumi said he wasn’t going to tolerate certain comments which appears to indict the sanity of delegates who are not on his side, adding that any further words from the MP against his personality is going to get him arrested.

“Let comments like, “I have regretted being in the NPP, everyone is a fool, I’ll give you a showdown” and how you speak, among others cease else if you threaten me again, I will get you arrested. This is an advice I am giving you because you did same and now the likes of Ahmed Suale are all gone,” he said in Twi at a press conference Wednesday.
