Member of Parliament for Assin Central Kennedy Ohene Agyapong says he will give Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and his campaign team a “bombshell if they continue with their religious and tribal campaign.”

Kennedy Agyapong who is also a flag bearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused some elements within the NPP for attempting to offer him bribe to step down for the Vice President ahead of the party’s presidential primary.

He said after declining the offer, they allegedly offered a promise of making him the running mate to Dr. Bawumia, which he declined.

He described the Ashanti regional Chairman of the party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako as a ”small boy who lacks manners’’ for insulting the former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan John Kyerematen, for resigning from the party.

Addressing the NPP supporters after the ‘Showdown Walk’ in Kumasi, the flag bearer hopeful said the resignation of Alan from the NPP will be a sign of repetition of the party’s 1979 history if he doesn’t win the November 4, 2023 primary.

He threatened to give the party a “monumental showdown” if anyone attempts to scheme the process to undermine his chances of becoming the presidential candidate of the NPP.

In what appears to be a caution to the party leadership, Mr. Agyapong also warned that Alan would be a threat to the fortunes of the ruling party’s quest to break the ‘8’.

“Do not let history repeat itself. Let’s not allow stalwarts of our party leave to form another party. Victor Owusu who led PFP lost the election to Liman’s PNP because his own people rejected him.

“Some people left to form the UNC, when the 1979 election went to runoff, PNP won, even though the votes of PFP and UNC combined would have won us power, but disunity,” he stated.

Supporters of the NPP presidential candidate hopeful held a second health walk in Kumasi Saturday, September 30, 2023, dubbed; Kumasi Showdown.

The supporters converged at the Bantama State Boys’ School park near the Suame Roundabout in Kumasi, before hitting the streets from Abrepo Junction, through to Bnatama High Street, Adum Pampaso, and continued to Aseda House area. They passed through to Asafo Labour roundabout from Aseda House, and ended the walk at the Kumasi Jubilee park.

The walk was full of fan as supporters danced to various jama and brass band songs to demonstrate their support to Kennedy Ohene Agyapong for his commitment to the NPP and the country.

Supporters of former Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen, who resigned from the party on Monday, September 25, 2023 also joined the walk to offer their support to the Assin Central legislature.

The supporters were entertained by the Kumawood legend actor Agya Koo, Gospel artiste Isaiah Kwadwo Ampong among other musicians.

Speaking to the gathering at the Kumasi Jubilee Park, former Spokeperson for the Alan Kyerematen Campaign in the Ashanti region, Abraham Boadi, called on supporters of Mr. Kyerematen who are delegates to vote for Kennedy Agyapong. He described Ken Agyapong as a truth patriot of the party who shares similar vision of Alan.

He said the future of the NPP in the country lies on the victory of Kennedy Agyapong.
