Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential aspirant, has pledged to allocate at least 10 national-level appointments to every constituency under a future NPP government led by him.

The former Vice President described the proposal as “one constituency, ten appointments”, an initiative he says is aimed at strengthening party structures at the grassroots, deepening inclusion in governance, and ensuring that no part of the country is left out of national decision-making.

He explained that constituencies would be empowered to nominate qualified and deserving individuals for these appointments, adding that beneficiaries would be expected not only to serve at the national level but also to contribute meaningfully to development in their local areas.

Addressing party delegates ahead of the NPP presidential primaries scheduled for Saturday, January 31, Dr Bawumia called for massive support, outlining what he described as a deliberate strategy to build resilient and sustainable constituencies across the country.

My plan is to strengthen all constituencies in Ghana to be resilient and sustainable. Most of the time, some constituencies are left out in the appointment process,” he said. “As a future President of Ghana, God willing, I will dedicate 3,000 out of 7,000 national appointments to constituencies nationwide.

He stressed that every constituency would be guaranteed a minimum of 10 national-level appointments, cutting across key positions in government.

Every constituency will get at least 10 national-level appointments, including ministers of state, deputy ministers, CEOs, deputy CEOs, ambassadors, deputy ambassadors, and board of directors, amongst others,” Dr Bawumia promised.

The former Vice President also made it clear that performance would be a critical benchmark under his administration, warning that appointees who fail to deliver would be removed.

Appointees who will perform abysmally will be replaced with competent ones,” he stated, signalling a results-driven approach to governance.

Dr Bawumia is contesting the NPP presidential race alongside Kennedy Agyapong, Ing. Kwabena Agyepong, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Dr Bryan Acheampong.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, has projected a commanding victory for Dr Bawumia in the upcoming primaries. He forecast that the former Vice President would win in 14 out of the 16 regions nationwide, including a decisive victory in the Ashanti Region, the party’s traditional stronghold.

Dankwah said available data strongly points to a clear win for Dr Bawumia, describing his lead as both broad-based and significant across the country.
