Already relegated Ghana Premier League side Real Tamale United (RTU) have been charged by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for alleged impersonation.

Some players were said to have been fielded by the Northern Region club in their 1-8 loss to Dreams FC on Wednesday, June 12.

Registered players of the club are said to have boycotted the outstanding game, having been technically relegated on Sunday, forcing management to honour the fixture with unregistered players.

After revelations of this broke out, the GFA cracked the whip.

“Real Tamale United have been charged with a breach of Section 34(6)(d) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019, following their Premier League game against Dreams FC.

“It is alleged that the Club intentionally deceived match officials during the said game by using unregistered players to impersonate officially registered players of their club, which constitutes misconduct that brings the name of the game into disrepute.”
