The Western Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Michael Aidoo is calling for the immediate dismissal of the entire Commissioners of the Electoral Commission (EC).
Mr. Aidoo said the Chairperson of the EC, Jean Mensa and her deputies nearly brought chaos into this country.
The Chairman made the call in an interview on Onua Maakye hosted by JB on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
“If I were to be President Mahama, they would have gone long time. They would have gone moment after the 2024 election, because during the 2020 election, she came out with five results,” Mr Aidoo explained.
Mr. Aidoo said “democracy and peace should be fair. Don’t intimidate the people”.
“It is only God that saved the country through the 2024 election. She was bringing chaos into the country during the election,” he stressed.
Mr Aidoo further noted that if they are sacked, some people will complain but majority of Ghanaians will be in favour.
“Ghanaians will speak against it but the majority that knowns that truth will support it. If we hold a referendum today for her to leave, majority will support because elections are to be transparent and that is what will bring peace,” he stressed.
Touching on galamsey, Mr Aidoo denied the notion that the Western North Region is the hub of illegal mining.
Mr. Michael Aidoo said things are changing when it comes to illegal mining ever since the National Democratic Congress (NDC) came to power.
“It’s not true that Western North is getting worse off when it comes to illegal mining. During the NPP time, it was glare on road sides. It was glare but now, things are changing,” he said.
Mr. Aidoo explained, “I am not saying illegal mining is not being done in Western North Region, but it is not the worse off”.
“It is getting better because the Lands and Natural Resources Minister is doing very well. The water is changing due to the measure that have been put in place”.
He explained that “under the NPP, it was scarry but now under the leadership of President John Mahama and Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, it is going down”.
