Police have arrested three suspects in connection with a murder and assault case at Gbenyiri in the Savannah region, following an intelligence-led operation.
The suspects, identified as Yaw Bamuah, Yaa Bokaa and Kuma Simpor, were arrested on Saturday, March 14, 2026, by the IGP’s Special Intelligence Team in collaboration with the Savannah Regional Police Command.
A statement issued by the police on Monday, March 16, 2026 says the arrests form part of ongoing investigations into a violent attack at Gbenyiri which resulted in a murder and injuries to other individuals.
Yaw Bamuah, one of the suspects, during interrogation reportedly admitted involvement in the attack and provided investigators with information about several alleged accomplices who are currently on the run.
According to him, the other accomplices on the run include Anuda Borour, Pobiyɛ, Bitunor Sansa and James Sanyuah. Police say efforts are underway to locate and arrest them as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, preliminary investigations indicate the attack was allegedly carried out in retaliation for the killing of a relative of the suspects.
The suspects, according to the police, believed their relative had been attacked and killed by robbers suspected to be Fulani.
Following his arrest, Yaw Bamuah reportedly led police officers to his residence at Gbiniyiri, where a single-barrel shotgun with serial number BAT 2598-88 was recovered from a concealed location within the compound.
