The Member of Parliament for the Savelugu Constituency, Abdul Aziz Fatahiya, has launched the Yooyili Pag’dede Foundation, a development-focused initiative aimed at promoting inclusive growth and improving the livelihoods of women, youth, and vulnerable groups in the constituency.
Speaking at the launch, Hajia Fatahiya said the Foundation was established to complement her parliamentary responsibilities by addressing poverty, unemployment, and limited access to education and economic opportunities, particularly among women and girls.
“This foundation is born out of a simple belief that no one should be left behind in the development of our constituency, especially women who remain the backbone of their families and communities,” she stated.

She expressed concern over the low transition rate of girls from senior high school to tertiary institutions in the constituency, describing the situation as unacceptable and one that requires deliberate intervention.
“It worries me that many brilliant girls from Savelugu are unable to continue their education due to financial and social barriers. This narrative must change, and we are determined to make that happen,” she added.
The MP explained that the Yooyili Pag’dede Foundation will mobilize resources from development partners, the private sector, and benevolent individuals to support women in farming, agribusiness, and trade, while creating opportunities for young people to engage in productive and sustainable ventures.

She emphasized that the foundation is non-political and solely focused on improving social wellbeing, noting that its objectives align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 8, 10, and 11, which promote decent work, reduced inequalities, and sustainable communities.
Highlighting achievements within her first year in office, Hajia Fatahiya mentioned the establishment of the Savelugu Educational Fund with a seed capital of GHS 169,000, which supported over 100 brilliant but needy students in 2025.
“Investing in education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty, and we will continue to support students who have the talent but lack the means,” she said.
She also disclosed that a medical outreach programme organized in collaboration with health professionals provided free breast cancer and chronic disease screenings for more than 3,000 women across the constituency.
The MP called on traditional authorities, civil society organizations, and development partners to support the foundation’s vision of building an inclusive and economically empowered Savelugu Constituency.
“Development is a collective responsibility. With the support of our traditional leaders, partners, and stakeholders, we can create real opportunities and improve the quality of life for our people,” she concluded.
