Ghanaian striker Antoine Semenyo scored both goals for AFC Bournemouth as they lost 4-2 to champions Liverpool in the season opener on Friday, August 15.

The match at Anfield was the first game of the 2025/26 English Premier League season.

The Reds took the lead in the first half through new boy Hugo Ekitike.

Cody Gakpo made it 2-0 four minutes into the second half.

However, Semenyo scored his brace – the first in the 64th minute and the second in the 76th minute – to cancel the Reds’ lead.

But Federico Chiesa restored the lead with two minutes to go and Egyptian Mohamed Salah continued where he left off last season, scoring the final goal in injury time.

The win sees Liverpool go to the summit of the log as majority of the matches on Day 1 are slated for Saturday, August 16.
