Manchester City striker Antoine Semenyo says he tried to improvise the best way possible to score that lone goal in the 2025/26 FA Cup win against Chelsea.
The Ghanaian’s 72nd-minute goal was the winner for Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Semenyo revealed that he had tried the move a couple of times at training.
“I’ve done that a couple of times in training,” he said. “It was behind me so that was the only thing I could do and luckily I got connection and I got the ball in the corner.”
He added: “If [the ball] goes behind me I try a trick or two and it worked, so I’m grateful.”
Semenyo attributed his improved form to hardwork and hopes to get better under Pep Guardiola.
“I’m picking up on a lot of things and I’m happy to have characters like that in the changing room and they are making me better as a person and as a player everyday so I’m so grateful for them.
On Guardiola, he stated: “We all love him. He is so passionate, you can see he wants to win trophies and what he has done for the club is so amazing and I’m so grateful to be here and so grateful he gets to coach me and make me a better player. He is just a top man.”
Semenyo and his teammates will have to fight for the Premier League title against leaders Arsenal with two games to go.
