The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has dismissed claims that it is selling its hotel investments, describing recent media publications and social media commentary on the matter as “false and misleading”.
In a statement issued on Friday, May 22, SSNIT clarified that advertisements published in the Ghanaian Times and Daily Graphic on March 24, 2026, were not invitations for the sale of any hotel assets or attempts to seek investors or buyers for its hotels.
“Management wishes to state unequivocally that these allegations are false, misleading, and without basis. SSNIT is not selling any of its hotel investments,” the company clarified.
According to the Trust, the advertisements were solely intended to invite qualified consulting firms to provide professional advisory services for Golden Beach Hotels Limited, which manages La Palm Royal Beach Resort, Elmina Beach Resort and Busua Beach Resort.
SSNIT explained that the consultants are expected to conduct an independent assessment of the company’s operations and performance, recommend turnaround and operational improvement strategies, and develop a comprehensive five-year business plan to enhance the company’s competitiveness and profitability.
Management stressed that the exercise is purely a strategic business improvement initiative aimed at strengthening operational performance and preserving value, and not a divestment process.
The Trust further noted that Labadi Beach Hotel, one of its flagship hospitality investments, “continues to perform strongly and remains a strategic investment within SSNIT’s portfolio.”
According to SSNIT, the Trust is actively supporting the hotel’s expansion and growth efforts to improve its long-term value and contribution to the pension scheme.
Management also reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding contributors’ funds and ensuring prudent investment management.
“All decisions relating to the Trust’s hospitality investments are guided by sound investment principles, rigorous performance evaluation, operational sustainability, and the objective of creating long-term value for contributors and pensioners,” the statement said.
SSNIT therefore urged the public to disregard claims suggesting that it is selling its hotels and assured contributors, pensioners and the general public of its commitment to ensuring the sustainability of the pension scheme.
