Celebrated Broadcaster, Nii Odartey Lamptey has advised journalists to avoid personal attacks when going about their duties.

Nii Odartey Lamptey noted in an interview with Giovani Caleb on 3FM Drive that such scathing and exaggerating acts are unattractive of a good journalist.

He urged presenters to rather attack the role and leave the judgement of the story to the right-thinking members of society.

“If Mr. A has been accused of something and I’m on the radio in the morning, let me deal with the issues. But saying that he is a thief and that kind of thing makes me worried.

“I do not think that’s what makes you a good journalist. Attack the role and allow those listening to you to be the Judges,” he said on June 5.

The current head of news at GBC lamented the trend of journalists rushing to report stories without full facts.

According to him, that’s unethical stating that GBC has maintained its standard and has never reported a false story to retract later on.

“For me, go straight to the point…to try and exaggerate, recreate that, it’s painful and rushing to come out with stories when you do not have the full story. You go and have to retract. That is one thing that GBC has not done before, we have never retracted before…be the second but being the first to come and retract, no,” he added.
