The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, has announced plans to begin clearing the right-of-way along the Suame–Asonomaso Nkwanta corridor in November to pave the way for a road expansion project.

The exercise is to prepare the stretch for construction works aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing the persistent congestion experienced by commuters travelling along the corridor.

Dr Amoakohene made the planned intervention in a post on his Facebook page,on Thursday, October 8,2026, indicating that engagements would be held to facilitate the removal of obstructions along the route before the expansion works begin.

“Suame through to Asonomaso Nkwanta. We shall engage to clear the right of way to commence the road expansion project on that corridor. November,” he said.

The proposed project is expected to address traffic challenges along the busy route, where motorists and other road users frequently experience delays during their daily journeys.

The clearance exercise will be a key step towards making the required space available for the planned expansion.

However, details regarding the project’s scope, construction timeline, funding, and the specific arrangements for affected occupants have not yet been provided in the announcement.

The planned intervention forms part of efforts to improve road infrastructure and ease the transport difficulties confronting commuters in the Ashanti Region.
