A joint security taskforce made up of Police, Narcotics Control Commission, National Security and the anti-drug task force, have arrested one Alhaji Abdulai Sayuti, a suspected drug lord in Tamale.
About 400 boxes of Tramadol 120mg and other grams were found at his Fuo warehouse. Alhaji Sayuti who operates a chemical shop had several boxes of the tramadol and other substances at his chemical shop in Tamale.

Alhaji Sayuti has since pleaded guilty two charges; possession of Restricted Drugs without Lawful Authority and Prohibited Sale of Restricted Drugs without Lawful Authority before fainting in court.

Background
On Tuesday July 15, 2025, at about 3:20pm, Gandaa Meshark, Principal Regulatory Officer at Food and Drugs Authority, Tamale accompanied by Alhassan Suleiman, Deputy Coordinator of National Security NR arrested and brought to the Drugs Law Enforcement Unit, suspect Abdulai Sayuti aged 53 with 368 blisters of Taramadol 120mg and 298 blisters of Tramaking 120mg and reported that the team acted on information received from local taskforce member that the suspect is selling restricted drugs to the general public without prescription.

The exhibits were retrieved from the suspect’s room and same retained for evidential purposes.
Further investigations led to the retrieval of 447 boxes of Taramadol 120mg and 11 boxes of Tramaking from suspect warehouse at Fuo .
Court
Suspect Abdulai Sayuti was arraigned before Tamale Circuit Court presided over by His Highness Francis Asobayire where he pleaded guilty to the charges and was convicted on his own plea.
Sentence has been deferred to July 21 for sentencing.
