The Tafo Circuit Court has on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, remanded a Nigerian, Beauty Inakwe, into two weeks of prison custody for allegedly pouring hot water on a nine-year old girl and inflicting knife wounds on her.

The disturbing incident happened at Duase in the Kumasi metropolis of the Ashanti region, where a nine-year-old girl, Ruth Wisdom, was allegedly abused by her elder sister, Beauty Inakwe, a Nigerian and a commercial sex worker.

The suspect poured hot water on Ruth and cut her hand with a knife after she defecated in their room, which lacks a toilet facility.

Report says Ruth was brought from Nigeria to live with Beauty who usually subjects the little girl to long-term abuse, including severe beatings and locking her in the room without access to a toilet.

Neighbours and other co-tenants reported that Beauty would lock Ruth and her own child in the room while she went to work, forcing them to rely on a public facility.

Beauty was arrested by police at the Kenyase District Command and was arraigned at the Old Tafo Circuit Court on Tuesday November, 25, 2025.

The court presided over by His honour Festus Fovi Nukunu has remanded the suspect into two weeks prison custody for further investigation.
