The Tamale High Court presided over by Justice Daniel Obeng, has dismissed the Savelugu and Zabzugu parliamentary election petitions.
The cases were filed by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidates for the two respective constituencies challenging the outcome of the 2020 election.
According to the presiding judge, the issues presented by the petitioners did not materially or substantially affect the outcome of the results as declared by the EC.

In the Savelugu constituency, NDCs Abdul Jacob Iddrisu polled 19,577 votes to beat immediate past MP Mohammed Abdul Samed Gunu of the NPP who secured 19,478 votes.
On January 8, 2021, the NPP candidate who was the incumbent filed a petition at the Tamale High Court challenging the outcome of the election describing it as characterized by widespread malpractices.
An amount of 40,000 cedis in damages has been awarded to the NDC in the Savelugu case.
For the Zabzugu constituency, incumbent Jaaba John Bennam of the NPP polled 17,580 votes to beat Former MP Alhassan Umar of the NDC who secured 14,631 votes.
