Captain Smart has alleged the teacher unions objection to the appointment of Dr. Eric Nkansah as Director General of the Ghana Education Service is a political struggle between the former and current sector ministers.

On Maakye Tuesday morning, Captain Smart revealed the brouhaha leading to the strike action is a Dr. Yaw Adutwum Matthew Opoku Prempeh affair.

According to him, because the ousted Director General, Prof. Kwasi Opoku Amankwah belongs to Napo’s camp, there was an alleged attempt from him to sabotage Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum, the reason he was sacked.

However, leaders of the teacher unions –NAGRAT, CCT and GNAT –brokered the laptop deal with Prof. Amankwah without consulting the teachers whom many objected to the deal. Some have not received their laptops after over a year now whilst their monies have been deducted. There is a suspicion of enquiry by the new boss which is sending shivers down the spine of the three union leaders and the Prof. Amankwah.

The teacher unions have declared a strike to that effect which some teacher caucuses have described as unwarranted.

On Onua TV Monday, November 7, 2022, president of NAGRAT, one Angel Carbonu described a panel on Onua YV studios discussing the illegality of the strike as “nonentities speaking nonsense.”

Also, Captain Smart has alleged attempts by some government leadership to resolve the rife between Adutwum and Napo proved futile.

“As we speak, Napo and Adutwum they don’t talk. That is why Napo’s PRO at the time he was Education minister supports the strike and Adutwumm’s PRO says it’s useless,” he added.
