As part of ongoing efforts to promote agroforestry, irrigation, and sustainable livelihoods, for communities living around the Sojakoda Community Resource Management area (CREMA), the African Energy Parks Project, which will provide solar power, food processing equipment, clean cookstoves, and water systems to 10 communities, has been inaugurated
The inauguration included the presentation of a devolution certificate, officially empowering the local communities to lead in wildlife protection.
Speaking at a short inaugural ceremony in Kong in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District, Local Cordinator of the African Energy Parks project Jarah Dacharigu Mwangu, stressed that the project, forms Part of a broader strategy to support sustainable development and strengthen the national energy transition in the Kong area.
“For the project to succeed, we strongly need your partnership and support so that our drive towards sustainable energy transition will be achieved.”
“This is why we working with the CREMA which will bring together Soma, Jang, Kong, and Dabori to lead their own natural resource management so that together we can ensure that the project is well managed,” he said.
For his part, Mole Park Manager Ali Mahama emphasized that the Sojakoda CREMA is expected to empower local communities to play a leading role in wildlife protection, landscape restoration and the promotion of sustainable livelihoods within the Mole ecological landscape.
The African Energy Parks project is funded by the European Union.
