A gang has burnt down an entire house at Krofrom, a suburb of Kumasi in the Manhyia North municipality of the Ashanti region.

The action is believed to be a reprisal after a member of the lgang was hacked to death barely 24 hours ago.

Heavy security has been deployed in the area to maintain law and order, while the Ashanti regional police command mount a manhunt for the perpetrators.

The death of Candy has created fear and panic amongst residents at Krofrom.

Reports suggest, the deceased was lured by his assailants to a quiet place where they stabbed him multiple times before he died, on Wednesday January 25, 2023.

On Friday, gang members of the deceased also set ablaze the family house of one Baffuor, who is suspected to be among the assailants.

Residents of Krofrom say such attacks are common in the area.

“Gangsterism is very common here. Reprisal attacks is rife. If you attack a gang, you have to prepare for a reprisal, that has been the norm here,” a resident told Ibrahim Abubakar.

The Ashanti regional police command, Afful Boakye Yiadom who came there with his men to assess the situation pleaded with residents to give information that will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.

“We are feverishly searching for them, you know them, you know where they are, provide information to the police,” DCOP Afful Boakye implores residents.

For now, relative calm has been restored in the area with the deployment of police to maintain law and order.

But any delay to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to book may lead to another reprisal attack.
