The Member of Parliament for Assin Central constituency who is also vying for the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has said the battle for the party’s front-runner for the 2024 elections has just begun.

“I urge my cherished campaign team, volunteers, and teeming supporters in Ghana and around the world to know that the larger battle to win the polls of 4th November 2023 and secure the Flagbearership slot of the NPP has just begun,’ he noted in a Sunday, August 27 statement.

He indicated further in the same statement that he is going to be listening to his followers more as he begins his final campaign towards the November 4 polls.

“I pledge to engage and listen more as I embark on the final leg of my listening tour in the run up to the 4th November elections. I also promise to improve on all fronts to atone for areas where we have opportunities. I am confident that together we shall lead the NPP to break the eight for all Ghanaians to realize the full potential of our dear country,” he pledged.

The Chairman of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee extended an appreciation “to the 132 delegates who braved unprecedented difficulties to vote for me to put me in second place and thereby qualify me to compete in the main primaries on 4th November, I express my heartfelt gratitude to you and God’s guidance over you”, reminding them that, “after that comes the ultimate fight of 7th December 2024 against the NDC to sustain the gains our party has made over the past two terms and transform our dear country.”

The Assin Central Member of Parliament garnered 132 votes at the special college election organised Saturday, August 26, 2023, to trim the 10 aspirants to five for the final exercise in November.
