The Black Stars clinched Bronze in the Unity Cup 2025 after beating Trinidad and Tobago 4-0 on Saturday. Before that, the team lost 1-2 to Nigeria in the first game on Wednesday, May 28.
The two games gave an opportunity for Coach Otto Addo to field a number of young players, many of whom made their debut.
1. Caleb Yirenkyi
The FC Nordsjaeland midfielder slotted him at Right back and executed superb performance. His ability to spot spaces and make those surging runs makes him a sure bet for Otto Addo’s rebuild
2. Christopher Bonsu Baah
The Belgium-based tricky winger was one of Otto Addo’s go to guys, Just like what he’s done with Genk, he was electric on wings, took on players and created several openings for the team. He will provide loads of competition on the right wing
3. Razak Simpson
The Nations fc defender had a shaggy start in the game against Nigeria but recovered in the second half to provide the pre assist for the consolation goal. His mental toughness and composure was clear against TnT topping it up with a goal. The back four with him on the right Centre Back fits perfectly
4. Mohammed Fuseini
Certainly a prospect for the left wing- with a goal on his debut, and with constant injuries to Kamaldeen Sulemana and the awkward absence of Joseph Paintsil, clearly makes him one the team can build on
5. Ibrahim Sulemana
Should be starting as the main DM for the team. Provides balance and shield and has the eye for those deep passes.. when fit should be starting ahead of any of the DMs
6. Abdul Aziz Issah
Not much was seen but anytime he’s on the ball, You could see the potential. Deadly left foot and has the ability to make that runs into opposition area. A setpiece specialist too.
7. Ebenezer Annan
A future for the leftback role. Assisted Thomas-Asante for the consolation goal against Nigeria but was soo good in general.
8. Brandon Thomas-Asante
Just like Antione Semenyo, the bulky striker got a debut goal but showed why he’s a box fox. Strong in the air and can weave his way through defense too. Can operate on either flank as well.
9. Jordan Ayew
Jordan has shown he’s the real leader of the team and is proving everyday that he deserves the armband. Goals assists, and his general play has been super good for the team.
10. Gideon Mensah
Gideon Mensah has improved tremendously in the last couple of games. Played in 3 different roles and flourished in all. His attacking prowess makes him a quality option for the team.
Extras
Francis Abu, Majeed Ashimeru , Lawrence Agyekum are all options for the midfield. In different variations, these boys provided convincing performance and never in doubt they will grow into the team.
The team just needs time bond together and they will be a well functioning Black Stars.
