Legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has said the time has come for former President Nana Akufo-Addo to call on Ken Ofori Atta to return home and render accounts for his stewardship.

Kpebu says it’s absolutely important for the former Finance Minister to subject himself to accountability.

“This is the best time for us to call on former President Akufo-Addo to prevail on Ken Ofori-Atta to come home and face justice,” Kpebu said on the Key Points on Tv3 Saturday January 10.

Similarly, South Dayi Lawmaker Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor asked Ofori-Atta to return home and render accountability.

He says the continuous stay of Mr Ofori-Atta in the United States creates the impression that he has something to hide.

“Ofori-Atta must abandon these tactics, come home and deal with the issues,” he said on the KeyPoints on Tv3 Saturday January 10.

For his part, Deputy Attorney-General Justice Srem Sai said that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta could be back in Ghana sooner than expected.

This followed his arrest and detention in the United States.

“Ofori-Atta could be back in Ghana sooner than expected,” he also said on the Key Points on TV3 Saturday, January 10.

Justice Srem Sai further said that Ghana’s Ministry of Justice and Attorney-General’s Department was part of the process that resulted in the detention of Ken Ofori-Atta in the United States.

He said that the Ghanaian authorities collaborated with the US law enforcement agencies on this matter.

“We are keenly involved in this matter. We collaborate with law enforcement agencies in this matter,” he also said on the KeyPoints on TV3 Saturday, January 10.
