The Paramount Chief of Anfoega and President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, has said that young people have demonstrated their capacity to deliver results and should be entrusted with greater leadership responsibilities.

Speaking during the Reset Tour and Citizens’ Engagement in the Volta Region on Friday, July 17, the traditional ruler said the performance of the President’s youthful appointees has reinforced confidence in the ability of young people to lead national development when given the opportunity.

He commended President John Dramani Mahama for including what he described as a vibrant and youthful team in his Government to drive Ghana’s development.

“Your Excellency, I must commend you for the vibrant youthful team that you have chosen to lead this nation. My colleagues and I were watching the presentation and we can only say there are brighter days ahead for this country,” he said.

“The truth of the matter is that if we give power to young people and charge them to deliver for this nation, they will do it. I think the time has come for some of us to take the backstage and let the younger people do the work for this nation,” he stated.

He congratulated President Mahama for giving opportunity to young generation of leaders, describing them as men and women of integrity who are making meaningful contributions to the country’s progress.

“After all, that is why we have trained them. You have produced men and women of mettle who are contributing to the progress of this nation daily and I want to congratulate you on that,” he added.

The President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs also encouraged the President’s youthful team to remain committed to integrity and hard work in the discharge of their duties.

Turning to regional development, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV expressed optimism that the Volta Region has the potential to become Ghana’s leading region, citing its abundant natural resources.

“Considering the impressive rollout of the work that has gone on so far in this country, we are hopeful that our region will soon tower to be the number one region in this whole country,” he said.

He urged the government to work closely with traditional authorities to unlock the region’s untapped potential for the benefit of both the Volta Region and the nation as a whole.

“I would urge your team to work closely with the traditional authorities so that together we can explore all the potentials for turning the fortunes of not just the Volta Region but the whole Ghana,” he said.
